Series pastorum is a list of the priests who have served over time in a church.

If you visit one of Sweden's 3,400 churches, you will probably find one or more signs with priests' names and the years they have served in that church, congregation or pastorate. It can be names of commissioners, vicars, assistant pastors or church assistants. Sometimes also cantors or organists.

Often the signs are made of wood and painted with linseed oil paint, and the text can be very old, and over the years new names have been added when a priest has quit or changed positions.

Other signs are made on paper and written with ink, watercolor or gouache. So also ornaments, illustrations and drawings.

Handwriting or digital print

I work with updating old Series Pastorum that needs to add new names and numbers, and then

try to imitate the existing text and coloring.

I also design new signs both in wood and on paper. In consultation with each church, I suggest

what is suitable for that particular church in terms of style, coloring, illustrations and

possible framing.

​

If there are a lot of names on a new sign, in some cases the text can be printed instead of hand-written. It is possible to print with lightfast colors and with UV printing, on both wood and paper.

I then design everything digitally and it is printed on archival resistant, acid-free 300 gram

watercolor paper.
